01The challenge

Skovbakke's trust wanted to cut energy costs across its campus and give students something real to study. Its connection was too small for the staff chargers it had promised, and roofs could only be worked on in school holidays.

02What we built

We installed arrays on four buildings over two summer holidays, with chargers in the staff car park managed against the campus connection. A display in the science block shows the live output, and teachers get the raw data for lessons.

03The result

The campus makes 295 MWh a year. The chargers run within the existing connection, and two year groups now use the system's data in maths and physics.

How the project ran

1

Assessment

March 2024

Four roofs, the campus connection and the staff travel survey.

2

Design

April to June 2024

Holiday-only build plan, charger layout and the data feed for teachers.

3

Installation

July 2024 and July 2025

Two summer holidays, two buildings each, no work during term.

4

Monitoring

From August 2025

Live display in the science block, with yearly data sent to the trust.

The students check the display before the weather forecast now.

A site like Skovbakke School Trust's? Let us look at yours.

An engineer reviews your meter data and roof, visits the site and sends a written proposal with a design, a yield model and the financing options that fit. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
