01The challenge
Warta's roofs belong to its tenants' leases, but the 620-space car park belongs to the landlord. The owner wanted to cut the park's own power costs, offer charging and recharge tenants fairly for the power they use.
02What we built
We built steel carports with integrated panels across the car park and added roof arrays where tenants signed up. Forty AC chargers sit under the canopies and eight fast DC chargers by the entrance. Every tenant has its own meter and a monthly statement.
03The result
The park makes 1,900 MWh a year. Tenants buy solar power below their grid price, shoppers stay longer while they charge, and the car park is shaded in summer.
How the project ran
Assessment
April 2024
Car park survey, tenant meter data and talks with each tenant.
Design and permits
May to August 2024
Carport structure, drainage, lighting and the building permit for the canopies.
Installation
September 2024 to March 2025
One parking zone closed at a time, never more than a fifth of the spaces.
Billing and support
From April 2025
Tenant statements, charger payments and monitoring from Rotterdam and Wrocław.
We turned the least valued part of the site, the car park, into its most talked about.
Site assessment
A site like Warta Retail Park's? Let us look at yours.
An engineer reviews your meter data and roof, visits the site and sends a written proposal with a design, a yield model and the financing options that fit. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
